Hong Kong: It was a HK$1 million ($159,400) bubble-themed bash for former beauty queen Michelle Reis' newborn son.
Reis, 41, who is married to businessman Julian Hui, celebrated her son's 100th day milestone with a glamorous do for the couple's family and friends at Hong Kong's luxurious Grand Hyatt Hotel with a 26-table dinner, set amidst a fairytale theme based on bubbles.
Daily Chilli, a Malaysian website, reported that the couple were inspired by their son, who loves to take bubble baths.
Their son, Jayden Max Hui, was born on February 8, 2011. Chinese couples from China typically celebrate a baby's 100th day, instead of celebrating with a 'full-month', or manyue, celebration.
The newly minted mum was busy handing out invitation cards and designing favours, which were colourful rock candies, for guests, as she jetted around the region to fulfil her work commitments as a beauty ambassador for Shiseido. The rock candies carried variations of Jayden Max's name, or Baby JM, as he is affectionately known, as well as his date of birth.
Indeed, Reis has much to celebrate. She underwent two surgeries after giving birth to Jayden via Caesarean section to remove kidney stones after a complication developed while she was pregnant.
She was also advised by doctors to stop breastfeeding Jayden after the surgeries. But she has since been given a clean bill of health.
Another Chinese website, Crienglish.com, reported that the couple had wanted to splash HK$5 million for the party at first, with unused money from budget set aside for the celebration and cash gifts given by guests going to a children's charity foundation, the JMJ children's charity foundation, to aid needy children. The foundation is named after the couple and their young son.
