It's okay to let others see a bit
by Kwok Kar Peng

FANN Wong is a generous woman and here's why.

The 40-year-old actress turned up in a Gucci dress with a plunging neckline at last night's Star Awards 2011 Show 1, giving everyone a generous view of her fair-skinned cleavage.

What's more, she told The New Paper with a laugh in a backstage interview during the show: "I don't think my husband (actor Christopher Lee) would mind...He's seen more (of my breasts) anyway."

She joked: "After all, instead of just one person enjoying the view, why not open up to benefit more people?"

Really, the things this woman says sometimes.

Wong also revealed that she wasn't wearing a push-up bra and self-deprecatingly called herself "another Changi Airport" for her flat chest.

She said Lee didn't know what she would be wearing until last night.

"Christopher and (actor Chen) Hanwei both waved a nagging finger at me when they saw me. My husband can be rather conservative at times," the actress said.

But husband Lee seemed to have changed his mind about Fann's outfit later on.

Perhaps he was in a better mood after winning the Favourite On-screen Partners (Variety) award with TV host Quan Yifeng for their programme Life Transformers 2.

Lee, 39, said: "I have no problems at all with what Fann wore. It's okay to let other people see a bit.

"It's not like everything is exposed or that she's not wearing her trousers. I'm liberal when it comes to fashion."

The couple weren't the only ones nonchalant about showing some flesh.

From revealing the side of her breasts in a jaw-dropping Gucci dress at last year's Star Awards, Joanne Peh was back last night with yet another ooh-la-la outfit.

No doubt, the white lacy number was more girly than glamazon.

But the outfit showed off her ample cleavage, which the 28-year-old admitted was the result of some help from a push-up bra.

Added the actress: "I'm very comfortable showing cleavage.

If I need to be sexy, I can. Or if I need to hide under an outfit, it's okay too."

Let's see what she turns up in for next week's show.

Two shows

Like last year, this year's Star Awards is split into two shows. Last night's show, which was telecast live on Channel 8, featured awards in the technical categories and for viewers' online picks.

The second show, on April 24, will give out the acting and popularity awards.

Another local artiste who stole the limelight for her outfit was none other than headline-grabber Quan Yifeng.

The 37-year-old host's flaming red mini-dress showed off almost her entire back, and at times, her hemline rode up her thighs to reveal what seemed like black underwear.

Goodness, a wardrobe malfunction on free-to-air telly?

When asked about it later backstage, Quan said she was wearing a pair of shorts, even though it wasn't part of the original outfit.

Her good friend, celebrity hair-stylist Addy Lee, had bought the $4,000 Italian dress specially for her in China.

But there was a small problem.

Quan said: "I told Addy that I was a size 38, and the dress is actually a 36. So I couldn't fit into the pair of shorts that came with the dress."

She eventually just threw on her own pair of black shorts.

Quan also talked about a report in Lianhe Wanbao yesterday where a man alleged that she had hit another man at a party earlier this year.

This was reportedly after the man had accidentally hurt Quan's daughter's fingers.

Quan, who is up for one of the Top 21 Most Popular Female Artistes award at the coming Star Awards show, confirmed that there was an incident at the party but denied hitting the man.

She said "I am a bit affected by this but I'm not worried if it'll affect my chances at Star Awards this week.

"I'm already very satisfied with tonight's win."
