Vivian Chow and long-time beau Joe Nieh broke up last week after his very public indiscretion involving a kiss with undergraduate Mifty Zhang.

But the couple of 19 years has just announced plans to get married yesterday, despite both parties' earlier statements that their relationship was over.

Joe wrote in an email yesterday that he has "lost and learnt how to cherish", and that Vivian has agreed to marry him after "pressure from all sides".

In an interview with Next magazine published on Wednesday, he said: "I think I'm worse than Edison Chen beacuse I really was indiscreet in a public place."

Joe was also reported to have broken down three times during the interview and said that he had insisted on the break-up to take responsibility for his lapse, even though Vivian had already forgiven him.

He said she had responded by saying: "Actually, you just don't love me enough."

Joe's message continued with the notification that Vivian, 41, had accepted his proposal and they have applied to the registry office for a wedding date, and asked the public to wish them luck.
