She's messy, he's tidy

THEY have separate bathrooms. She is messy, while he loves to keep things tidy.

They don't mind getting gifts despite all the millions they have. They have become devotees of "healing crystals" since moving to Los Angeles.

David Beckham, the epitome of the metrosexual male, and Victoria, considered a high-maintenance celebrity, gave a rare insight into their lives in an interview with InStyle Magazine.

The couple even revealed their secret bathroom habits in the interview, including what annoying traits they have.

"She always leaves her drawers open," the Daily Mail quoted Beckham as telling InStyle.

The 35-year-old also said that she "leaves the toothpaste top off too".

He said: "It's kind of her mess, though. It's her bathroom. It's not down to me."

Victoria piped in: "He means like cupboard drawers, not as in knickers! I'm very messy."

The 36-year-old said in the interview that that they were lucky enough to have separate bathrooms.

"David's is all dark wood, very masculine. Mine is very modern, black and white. David's products are all hidden away, whereas mine are quite on show.

"David's pretty tidy. He doesn't really have any annoying bathroom habits."

She has also revealed how the thrill of receiving gifts hasn't worn off after all these years.

"We're in a great position in that every now and then, we get big boxes of products sent to us, which we're very lucky to have."

Does it still excite her given the fact they can buy all they want?

She said: "Oh my goodness, yeah. We get sent lots of products and clothes. I'm never going to become blasé about that. I really appreciate that someone has gone to the effort to send me things."

While it is widely believed that she tends to eat very little and not work out, she has embraced fitness since moving to Los Angeles.

Said Beckham: "Victoria's obsessed with working out. She's in the gym every morning. You run, what, five miles (8km)?"

To that, she replied: "Four, five miles every day on the treadmill. For me, I like the fact that, mentally, I can get off whenever I want."

Beckham, on the other hand, said he hates the idea of running and not get anywhere. He loves to be outside.

"I like to run on the roads late at night. When I get a day off, I'd go to the gym with Victoria. There's this amazing gym in Santa Monica we go to."

Victoria also spoke about her views on plastic surgery, saying: "I have no problem with surgery at all but, for me, it looks ridiculous when you have a face that looks 25 and a body that looks 65.

"I think it's much more modern to go for a natural look. But ask me next year and that might change."

Common love

Apart from fitness levels, the couple revealed their love for crystals ever since they moved to Los Angeles, where Beckham plays for Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.

The former England captain and his wife keep the colourful stones in their respective bathrooms at their US$21 million (S$27 million) Beverly Hills home - in the hope that they will improve their health and boost their energy levels.

Some believe crystals and gemstones have healing powers and are 'energy medicine tools'.

Victoria said: "We both like crystals, as in crystal energy. I have lots of pink quartz and black tourmaline in my bathroom.

"It's quite spiritual in LA; all very positive." Victoria also said that she is done with sporting a tan.

"I've embraced whiteness," she admitted.

"No, I don't use any tanning products. Sometimes I look orange in photographs, which is really random, because I don't use any fake tan at all. I used to a long time ago, but not any more.'

To that, Beckham added: "The kids are always outside with the dogs, so we just sit out there and watch them. You do get a bit of a tan that way."
