Stars love the Bossini vibe
by Christina Ng

HONG Kong fashion brand Bossini is known for its fresh, vibrant styles.

Which is why it signed on two new stars for its latest campaign, called Be Happy Me.

Singer-songwriter Aarif Lee and model-actress Janice Man are its two latest faces who are also making waves in the Hong Kong showbiz scene. They say the brand's relaxed looks suit them both to a T.

While you might peg Man - the 1.68m-tall stunner who starred in the movie Basic Love (2009), along with Hong Kong actors Elanne Kong, Rex Ho and Izz Xu - as someone who would prefer to be togged out in European designer labels, the 21-year-old says that she's most comfortable in clothes like Bossini's.

The rising star added that its casual clothes make her feel very relaxed, and she especially likes its tunic jackets and skinny jeans.

She said: "When I'm off the stage and not in front of the camera, simple and comfortable clothing is my style. That represents the most relaxed Janice Man."

The Bossini ad campaign sees her donning clothes like tunics ($33), drapey cardigans ($49), studded T-shirts ($26), and denim shorts ($39).

Man, however, is no stranger to the limelight. The actress- model was scouted by a talent agent and eventually signed a contract with modelling and talent agency Starz People when she was just 14.

Since then, she's been a familiar face in ads, music videos and TV shows.

Her last film project is the upcoming movie Retribution, which also features top actors like Hong Kong's Anthony Wong and Taiwan's Richie Jen. She's a workaholic and was once admitted to hospital after working for 36 consecutive hours.

Yet what makes her most happy is work.

She said: "I'm happy when I'm trying my best in different kinds of jobs."

Lee, 23, broke into the music scene last year after Hong Kong heavenly king Leon Lai signed him to his record label, East Asia Record Production.

Lee told my paper in an e-mail interview that Bossini has a range of styles that he can choose from, according to his mood.

But best of all, he wears Bossini clothes when he's working.

"I enjoy wearing (clothes from the brand) when I'm writing songs and playing the guitar," he said.

"I love Bossini's jeans most, though," he added.

For the Bossini campaign, he can be seen wearing items like skinny denim jeans ($53), printed T-shirts ($13), blazers ($99) and checked shirts ($49).

The sporty Lee - a wakeboarding fan who also enjoys jogging - is also making a name for himself in the acting scene.

He's currently promoting Bruce Lee, a three-part biopic about the gongfu legend, in which he plays the lead role. They're not the only stars to sign on to the Be Happy Me campaign, which was launched on Nov 4 and which is being rolled out in China, Malaysia and Singapore.

Soccer player Chan Siu Ki and TV host Helen To, who shot to fame as the host of Hong Kong travelogue Tokyo Walker, are another two Be Happy Me ambassadors.

To, who says that "we should play to our hearts' content and dress to our hearts' desire", can be seen in the campaign wearing clothes like Bossini's skinny jeans ($49) and striped tunic T-shirts ($43).
